the potato, the people and South-East Transylvania.
Covasna County has land, has history, has people. It also has a potato — one of the best in the country. National Potato Festival brings them all together: farmers, chefs, researchers, travellers. From farm to fork, in a single August week.
Over three days, Târgu Secuiesc becomes the national capital of the potato. Gábor Áron Square, Petőfi Sándor and Kossuth Lajos streets, Wegener and Molnár Józsiás parks — all host seven thematic zones covering the entire food chain.
Under the patronage of the Ministry... and with the support of the Agency..., the County Council... and the local municipality, the festival brings together farms, cooperatives, restaurants, retailers, public institutions and technology companies — on a single stage.
The concept is multicultural by design: it celebrates local traditions, through performances, workshops, fairs and tastings. Six strategic pillars — gastronomy, agriculture, tourism, culture, digitalization and environment — give it its backbone.
First and foremost, however, this is a festival about land. About what grows from it, who works it and everything that happens between field and table.
Where the story begins.
Covasna County sits on one of Romania's most precious agricultural reserves. Volcanic soils, mineral waters, real winters. Here, the potato is not just another crop — it is a profession with generational roots and a strategic regional product.

From the families of Cernat and Zăbala to the large mechanised cooperatives — in Covasna, the field remains the place where what ends up on tomorrow's table is decided. Varieties, techniques, machinery and people: the festival brings precision agriculture alongside tradition.

Where the farmer meets the world.
Farmers Market open to the public: over 60 stands, producers from across the country, retailers (Kaufland, Lidl, Profi, Metro), processors and HORECA. Here, the short food chain becomes visible — fair price meets authentic product.
Visit Covasna and Visit Kézdi showcase the region in parallel as a gastro-tourism destination.
Where ingredients become craft.
Local chefs and local restaurants bring the potato through traditional fire and contemporary reinterpretations. Show cooking, street food, themed tastings and two major contests: Traditional Recipe and Recipe of the Year.
Local cuisine, reinvented — on the same plate.

A multicultural festival by design: local traditions on the same stage, folk ensembles, folk and contemporary concerts, craft workshops, themed evenings. One hospitality, two identities, thousands of guests.
